We offer European patent validation service in Latvia.

Deadline 

The translation of the claims only into Latvian is required to be submitted and the validation fee to be paid within three (3) months after the date of European Patent publication in the European Patent Bulletin.

Extension of the deadline is not possible.

Validation fees

Official fee for validation: EUR 40

Patent attorney fee: EUR 200

Translation fee for the claims: EUR 10 / 100 source words.

Representation before the Latvian patent office

A person with no residence, seat or commercial or industrial enterprise operating in Latvia must authorize a patent attorney as a representative before the latvian patent office. The Power of Attorney is not required.

Payment of renewal fees during and after validation period

A renewal fee also known as annuity or maintenance fee is validly paid if it has been paid by the end of month in which the date of filing occurred.

A renewal fee falling due within 3 months of the publication of the mention of grant in the European Patent Bulletin may be paid without surcharge within this 3-month period.

If a renewal fee is not paid on time, it may still be paid within six months of the due date (“grace period”), provided it is paid with a 15% surcharge (“additional fee”).
